Uncategorized Comments Off

When it comes to love songs, Ghanaian musicians deliver the most. “Odo Yewu”, twi for “my love” is so popular in Ghanaian songs that Nigerian musicians are beginning to adopt the term. Love songs are not always lovey-dovey. They’re sometimes sad and heartbreaking, other times soothing and warm; as love in itself manifests in different forms and makes people feel all type of ways.

We have selected for you the best love songs released so far this year (2019). This selection is dedicated to people in love, people dealing with separation, those waiting on love, those missing their loves ones, people trying to win hearts, and just anyone in a love related mood. In no particular order, enjoy the selection;

  1. Kwesi Arthur – Nobody ft Mr Eazi

This song was an auto-banger from the very first day it was released, or better yet from the moment it was recorded. It is off Kwesi Arthur’s latest album, ‘Live From Nkrumah Krom Vol. II Home Run’. You’d usually hear people sing along to it like an easy nursery rhyme, with everyone screaming “…and i don’t want noboooody, i don’t want nobooody”. Kwesi Arthur and Mr Eazi really went hard and emotional on professing their love and expressing their hurts on this song. If your girlfriend is giving you attitude yet she’s all you want, this song is for you.

2. King Promise – Bra Ft Kojo Antwi

This song is off King Promise’s debut album, ‘As Promised’. Bra is a soothing love tune that you can’t get enough of. Both King Promise and the Maestro Kojo Antwi’s vocals on this tune will melt your heart. When you hear the “bra bra bra bɛfe manu uuuu” (meaning come and kiss me), you’ll definitely get chills.  If you’re looking to win the heart of someone who probably already digs you, we recommend this song for you.

3. Kofi Mole – Don’t Be Late

This song’s popularity went from zero to hundred real quick. It has a different vibe from the norm and that makes it really special. It’s not surprising then that it’s coming from the apostle gangster, Kofi Mole. “Don’t Be Late” is for people who’re impatiently waiting on their lovers; whether from a travel, from a come back (breakup) or wherever. Please don’t cry yourself to sleep when you listen to this song.

4. Rjz – Bye Bye

First of all, Efya’s vocals never disappoint! If you’re madly in love, please please and please again, grab your lover and dance your hearts out to ‘Ankwa Dobi’

6. Kofi Kinaata – Adam and Eve

Kinaata’s song writing skills is on another level. In Adam and Eve, he tries to win a woman’s heart by saying “if you’re Eve, i’m Adam”, implying that they should be together. This song with its comic effect can easily win hearts. If you’re looking to win her heart, you should play her this song.

Even though recently released, this song is definitely on top of our list. Reveal is a spot on love song for everyone seeking reciprocal love.

If there’s any such thing as too deep in love, this song is a perfect fit for the category. It’s an intense “i love you” kind of love song off his latest ‘T. I. M. E” EP.  If you lack the words to express how deeply you are in love, you should just jump on this song.
