DKB & Others make History

There is no better word to describe comedian DKB last Saturday than amazing after he pulled off a wonderful performance at his Point Of View comedy show at the National Theatre.

DKB had earlier said that he would refund monies to patrons if he and his comedian friends fail to live up to expectation but after four hours of side splitting jokes and good music, his well attended Point Of View can easily pass for one of the best comedy shows in Ghana.

DKB arrived on stage in a palanquin at 10: 30 pm and there was never a dull moment till he exited

Made jokes out of how he was ‘stood up’ by some Ghanaian companies who promised to sponsor the event but backed out of such a laudable initiative at the last minute.

According to him, Ghanaian companies promised to sponsor a week to the show and to his surprise none of them came on board accept for Giant malt who became the title sponsor.

He went on to take a swipe at his disappointment in President Barack Obama for supporting gay marriage and how he was happy when it was alleged President Mugabe sarcastically agreed to practise the act with him(Obama).

For an hour, DKB cracked jokes on politics, the movies industry, music, women and other matters sending patrons double up in stitches. It was therefore not a surprise when he got a standing ovation after his act.

Point Of View started at 8: 30 pm with comedian Ajeezay who told jokes about the hard economic situation in the country. His joke on how some ladies have developed certain crafty means to lure men and get money from them went down well.

The night also saw witty acts from other comedians— Foster Romanus, Khemical, James Brown, O.B, Jacinta and KSM.

KSM got everyone laughing when he stated that he has to retire from the game because the young guys are now taking comedy to another level.

According to him, he used to be hot and everyone mentioned his name but now people see him and describe him as Grand papa of comedy.

However, one comedian whose performance received boos instead of applause was Mac Don.

Instead of going straight to the point with his jokes, he just kept on telling a boring story of how he met a lady and had sex with her because he could not control himself.

When the audience had enough of him and could not stand him any more, they started booing and he had no option but to leave the stage.Probably out of shame, he didn’t even join his colleague comedians to take a bow at the end of the show.

In addition to hilarious jokes, patrons atthe show were treated to music performances from E.L and Edem. The two thrilled the audience with their many hit songs.

Point of View was a good show. Simple stage design and good sound quality was a plus for the show. The only major minus was the heat in the auditorium which got patrons complaining.
