The La Dadekotopon Municipal Assembly Magistrates Court in Labadi has sentenced 37-year-old Nigerian who was impersonating Ghanaian actor Majid Michel, 10 months’ imprisonment.

The convict Kelvin Ogodogu, was arrested on Saturday, November 15 at his home in Kasoa in the Central region of Ghana after he was tracked using an imposter Facebook account to contact people to solicit for funds in the name of the award winning Ghanaian actor.

Ogodogu’s activities were reported to the police after he tried using the death of the actor’s mother to defraud a US-based Ghanaian lady called Ikay.

The fraudster reportedly told Ikay he needed $5,000 as a form of assistance in burying the late Paulina Olympio.

Admitting to have used the actor’s name to defraud a lot of people in the past two years, the Nigerian fraudster pleaded guilty to the charges brought against him by the prosecutors

After three hearings, the court presided over by Judge Charles Yaw Boateng during its final hearing on Friday, November 28, decided Ogodogo should be given 10 months with hard labour behind bars.
He will be serving his time at the Nsawam Minimum security prisons.
