Tolerance for bad governance has a limit – E.L

Elorm Adablah, known in show business as E.L., has said his ‘State Of The Nation’ song is an audacious song released out of frustration.

He argued that there is a limit to which citizens can tolerate the deplorable socio-economic condition existing in the country.

“Sometimes your cup runs over, sometimes, you tolerate, you tolerate, you tolerate and you are like chale, this is too much, I have to say something about it,” he remarked on the Citi Breakfast Show.

E.L is one of the few Ghanaian entertainers who has been vocal about the current state of the nation. These vocal entertainers have been accused of being sympathisers and supporters of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), but according to E.L, he is in no way bothered by such assumptions.

According to him, he is a citizen of Ghana “and so no matter how much I try to dodge the repercussions of the decisions that government makes, it still affects me directly or indirectly in a certain form or the other. I am an active participant in whatever goes on in this world, in this country.”

He said, “I express myself the best way through music. I am a creative person so which better way to express myself than to do it lyrically and to do it musically?”

E.L disclosed that despite being unconcerned about being tagged as a supporter of a political party for airing his views, “my parents worry when they hear you talk about stuff that pertains to government and stuff like that, they get really jittery but sometimes, you have to be audacious enough and think outside the box and try and make your statement heard.”

The ‘Kaalu’ rapper mentioned again that “I did Political Science in school so it’s very emotional for me when I start talking about stuff that pertains to the way this country is being governed.”

“I was just at a point where I felt like I had to contribute, I had to add my voice to the people out there so I had to say something about what I thought the whole nation was going through,” he added.

He indicated that his work gives him the opportunities to travel to other countries “and I see the way things work out there and when you come back here, it’s a whole other story and it’s a little frustrating most of the time.”
