Beauty With A Purpose: Actress Christabel Ekeh Goes Bald For Breast Cancer In Latest Photoshoot
Uncategorized October 20, 2015, Comments OffActress Christabel Ekeh has taken a bold step in creating awareness on breast cancer as she shaves down her hair to show support for the initiative.She was spotted in her bald hair state at the miss Malaika Talent hunt which took place over the weekend inside the University Of Ghana,Legon campus where she made an appearance as a judge.
The look came as a surprise to everyone present on the night though because of her profession others were made to believe it was as a result of a make-up effect for that matter.

Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast.
Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in women worldwide, with nearly 1.7 million new cases diagnosed in 2012” and since Cancer is caused by “external factors, such as tobacco, infectious organisms, and an unhealthy diet, and internal factors, such as inherited genetic mutations, hormones, and immune conditions”
When breast cancer is detected early, at a localized stage, the 5-year survival rate is 98%. Early detection includes doing monthly breast self-exams, and scheduling regular clinical breast exams and mammograms.
It can be diagnosed through multiple tests, including a mammogram, ultrasound, MRI and biopsy.
Types of breast cancer include ductal carcinoma in situ, invasive ductal carcinoma, inflammatory breast cancer, and metastatic breast cancer.
As a result of the misinformation out there, the actress has taken this bold step to go bald as a statement to indicate that, these women are not alone in the situation.
Speaking to ghkwaku.com on the issue she stated,
“Breast Cancer upon hearing, one might be made to believe is an infection amongst only foreigners but believe me, its amongst us here. Not too long ago, i lost two of my most adorable family members through Breast Cancer so it comes home too,”
She further stated that,“This month, we’ve seen progress as the Global Awareness has improved with the buzz created on social media and other platforms but i believe we can do more as entertainers to help create the awareness here in Africa, especially educate people on the best lifestyle choices.”
