Wizkid signs 7-figure deal with Sony Music

Nigerian artiste, Wizkid has signed a 7-figure global record deal with Sony Music according to a notjustok report.  The report adds that the company will handle distribution for the ‘Ojuelegba’ artiste in the United States of America.

Sony Music Entertainment is an American label and company owned by Sony through Sony Entertainment. The company was first founded in 1929 as American Record Corporation and renamed Columbia Recording.

Artistes signed to WizKid’s StarBoy WorldWide Recordsincluding Efya, R2Bees, and Mr. Eazi are likely to benefit from this deal to aid the growth of their careers.

In July this year, Mr. Eazi spoke to LIVE FM’s Sammy Forson and Vanessa Gyan about how joining Wizzy’s imprint would impact his career.

“StarBoy WorldWide is an umbrella, and then there is a different subsidiary. Everyone is leveraging on each other’s talents and access. It’s not a tired down deal.”

In the past few months, Wizkid has worked with the likes of Drake, Wale, Tinie Tempeh, Skepta and Chris Brown. Collaborations with Award-winning producer Swizz Beatz, Rihanna and Diplo is said to be in the works.
