Dentaa, Regina Van-Helvert, Others Grace 2019 Make-Up Week Launch
Uncategorized October 31, 2018, Comments OffMake-Up Ghana has launched the 2019 edition of its Make-Up & Beauty Week (MBW), a week-long celebration of the Ghanaian and African make-up and beauty industry.
The event will take place from April 26- May 4, 2019 to also reward and promote beauty stakeholders.
Among stakeholders will be make-up artists, brands, retailers, wholesalers, consumers, industry advocates and public sector partners of the make-up and beauty industry.
MBW is made up of two flagship events— Ghana Make-Up Awards, which rewards excellence in the industry and Africa Make-Up & Beauty Fair, which showcases industry businesses to consumers, potential partners and investors from Africa and the world.
The launch of the beauty week was held at the Alisa Hotel in Accra and was part of a ceremony dubbed ‘Glow & Mingle’ for stakeholders to network and discuss the myriad of issues affecting the make-up and beauty industry, including lack of support among make-up artists.
It was attended by Martha Ankomah, Mimi Michaels Adani, Regina Van-Helvert, Dentaa and a host of others.
The 2019 edition of the MBW comes amidst a new endorsement by the Ministry of Business Development.
The Minister for Business Development, brahim Awal, who spoke at the launch, assured the industry of the support of the ministry and encouraged the industry to think global in its ambitions.
The CEO of Make-Up Ghana, Rebecca Donkor, also revealed that there will be a few additions to MBW events.
“Taking lessons from 2018, we are expanding the reach and impact of the 2019 edition. First, we are hosting it across two weekends to increase participation by the public, especially for AMB Fair 2019. Second, we are expanding the number of categories at the 3rd Ghana Make-Up Awards to recognise the hard work of more practitioners. Our most promising make-up artist category will now have separate awards for bridal, editorial and special effects. We are also introducing an award for Ghanaian make-up artists outside of Ghana. We look forward to another celebration of the make-up industry with all of Ghana and Africa,” she indicated.
