There have been numerous concerns about the movie industry. Actors, actresses as well as some directors have come out to voice out about the worrying nature of the Ghana Movie industry which has resulted in actors and actresses such as Yvonne Nelson, Kafui Danku, Juliet Ibrahim, Prince David Osei, Eddie Nartey and more producing their own movies.

Like I reported last week, Beverly Afaglo being the latest to raise such concerns and also revealing her intentions about actually joining the Kumasi Platforms(Kumawood) because the Movie Industry here in Accra is dying.

Actor John Dumelo in about five months has not stepped a foot in the Capital Accra,Ghana, hence he’s been in Dubai, Canada, Uk, Amsterdam and other places making appearances at events and as well enjoying some holidays in those periods.His last time pictured on set in Ghana, we witnessed a daunting sekstape between himself and actress Christabel Ekeh which got Ghanaians fuming.

He as well missed a very important occasion being His best friend and Co-actor Majid Michel’s weeding vows renewal.He wrote a lengthy message to him to that effect just as the others who missed.From observation,for sometime now, the actor spends much more time outside his homeland which in most cases affect the consistency in the movie industry but in John’s case it hasn’t.

In an inconsequential conversation with ghkwaku.com, John Dumelo was asked why he doesn’t like to stay in Ghana and the award-winning actor was quick to respond:

Well, i know, but the likes of Abdul Sallam Mumuni and other movie producers have refused to cast me in recent times for one reason or the other, i can’t really tell why.

It could be the fact that, actors compared to previous times artists are a lot more expensive now and producers do not get their moneys worth from the cinema premieres and selling of television rights when they pay huge sums for artists.We’re yet to get confirmation for that as well from a producer’s perspective.

When asked if John will be leaving anytime soon he said:

I’m here to stay, i have work and other projects coming up so i’m definitely not looking at leaving soon.I’m here for now.

Well, only time will tell.On Sunday, John Dumelo was last pictured in the Volta Region at the Catholic church,as to what he’s working on, its still unclear.
