Uncategorized September 27, 2016, Comments OffThe date set by the family of late highlife musician,Daasebre Dwamena may have to be postponed following the adjournment of an injunction hearing by a Koforidua High Court.
The renowned musician’s family in New Juaben fixed his funeral arrangements and burial ceremony for October,14 however Daasebre’s matrimonial family from Anomabo in the Central Region who claim they have the right to perform the necessary funeral arrangement and burial filed an application to block his father’s lineage.
But the court which was to determine which of the families had the right to go on with the funeral, adjourned hearing to October,14, same date set for the burial.
The court earlier slapped a Gh500 fine on family from Anomabo after they failed to appear before court when the case was called but the decision was rescinded after they later appeared.
The celebrated highlife musician died on July 29, after battled some health complications for a while.
Born Daasebre Kojo Gyamenah, he became popular after releasing his debut hit ‘Kokooko’ in 1999 which featured former hiplife musician now turned Pastor Lord Kenya.Kokooko for many was the first major mainstream fusion of hiplife and highlife in Ghana. The song charted very successful careers for both musicians.
Daasebre, who was born into a Muslim family (his mother was one), later converted to the faith taking on the name Abubakar Siddiq.
