Castro Saga: I Owe Nobody An Explanation – Lawyer Maurice Ampaw
Uncategorized October 13, 2014, 374 CommentsIn all the confusion that erupted out of the Castro saga came the infamous outbursts of Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, who openly claimed to know the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of hiplife artiste, Castro and his acquaintance, Janet Bandu.
He asserted that, on 30th September 2014, he would reveal to the general public his findings on the happenings before, during and after the disappearance of the artiste. September 30, 2014 has gone past with Lawyer Ampaw failing to make any disclosure on the said date, much to the surprise and disappointment of Ghanaians, many of whom had much belief in his promise.
In a chat with Razz Newspaper Reporter (Mustapha Inusah), Lawyer Ampaw assigned reasons for his no show on 30th September and shared his feeling on players within the entertainment industry and how they have treated his involvement with the Castro issue.
“I owe nobody an explanation; the only people I am answerable to is the Police, which is an intelligent agency,” he said. He gave his reasoning for abandoning his 30th September promise: “It is simple, I promised to bring up information to help unravel the mystery by the end of the month (September) then quickly the police had a press conference before the end of the month.
Asamoah Gyan’s family also had another press conference and after that, the police kept asking me to come and see them, so I ask: between the police and the press which one should I honor? Of course, it is the police.”
According to him, he has already paid a visit to the police and given them the information he gathered and some of that information were confidential and he was advised by the police not to organize a press conference, because some of the information had security implications.
Lawyer Maurice Ampaw also had some strong words for major players within the entertainment industry especially the journalists and critics, stating that most of them have nothing to offer with regards to the Castro case.
“Whenever I speak, the entertainment critics will pick it and misinform the public, so I have been advised by the Police not to organize the press conference I intended to hold. The same people who criticize me are the same people who will speak against me if I decide not to obey the Police – they will say all sorts of things,” he stated.
He advised the players of the entertainment industry to wake up and see how they can also contribute in finding answers to the issue instead of insulting him on air. “These entertainment people have not assisted the Police in any way with regards to the case.
For me, anyone who insults me, I don’t care, I am doing my work, and working for my country,” he disclosed. He however hinted that, most of the information he offered to the police favours the Gyan family, the same group that attacked him when he started his investigations.
