Outspoken Ghana actor and entrepreneur, John Dumelo, has condemned the xenophobic attacks against African nationals in South Africa.

A Ghanaian, Emmanuel Kwesi Quaison was killed in the attacks in Durban, South Africa.

Quaison was killed on Thursday by local gangs accusing foreigners of taking their jobs.

The violence, which broke out in Durban and surrounding townships, has spread to other parts of the country, including the economic capital Johannesburg and dozens of foreigners were reported to have sought refuge in a police station outside Johannesburg overnight as foreign-owned shops were said to have been attacked in the city’s Jeppestown area.

Commenting on the development on his Facebook page Friday, Dumelo described the attacks as “the height of injustice” and called for an end to the violence.

According to him, “The xenophobic attacks against Ghanaians, Nigerians and other foreign nationals in South Africa must stop!

“This is the height of injustice. We are all Africans, we are all one people, with one positive goal. What’s the point in killing and attacking fellow Africans?”

Eight people have so far been confirmed dead in the new wave of attacks and foreign-owned shops looted in recent weeks.
