The stage was set, the statuettes were polished, the red carpet laid and all nominees were hoping to go home with an award. Africa’s biggest movie night, the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs) ceremony was ready and Ghana was not missing out the fun.

The ceremony was held at Eko Hotel, Lagos, Nigeria on the 7th of March 2015 and broadcast live on all AfricaMagic channels. MultiChoice Ghana held a live viewing of the 2015 AMVCA at the Labadi Beach Hotel for media personalities and its stakeholders. Some subscribers were also invited to the event to watch their favorite movie stars win in their various categories.

It was an afternoon of celebration, glitz and glamour as invited guests watched the red carpet coverage and were treated to a luxurious three-course meal.

The screening was not without its own entertainment as Ghana’s representative at the 2014 Big Brother Hotshots was there to thrill the guests to his insightful poems. His poem “Ghana We Dey” had guests laughing with the humorous depiction of local Ghanaian slang and incidences.

Present at the ceremony was Mr. Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, General Manager, MultiChoice Ghana who stated that it Multichoice Ghana was proud of all the Ghanaian nominees from eleven of the categories.

The Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is an annual awards ceremony presented by Multichoice recognizing outstanding achievement in television and film, voted on by the general public. The first Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards ceremony was held in Lagos in March 2013, and was broadcast live in more than 50 countries. Entries into the award ceremony are films and TV series that have been aired on DStv Channels in the previous year.
